Drawing on a dense and varied network of scientific partners, IRD works in a spirit of regional cooperation based on the joint construction and sharing of knowledge. The Institute benefits from long-standing presence, recognised by the national funding agencies. IRD research encompasses global changes, the sustainable management of resources and territories, mobilities and urban dynamics.

Highlights

  • SALTENA 2018

This campaign brought together 30 scientists from 11 different countries at the Chacaltaya Observatory, to understand the mechanism behind the formation of aerosol particles in the atmosphere at high altitude.

  • Partage des Savoirs au Mexique

In 2018, IRD researchers took part in the knowledge-sharing caravan, working closely with the French alliances, the French Embassy, and Mexican universities and research institutes.

  • The CLIMAX project

In the spirit of sustainability science, this project primarily focuses on the development of socially useful climate services via the introduction of an initiative for the co-design and co-production of knowledge between scientists, social players and political decision-makers.

  • Climate, ocean and global change

IRD researchers are actively involved in the CONACYT network on climate, the ocean and global changes. This network particularly deals with the theme of sargassum in a transdisciplinary manner, and with the climate variability of the tropical ocean and its impacts on resources in Mexico and Central America.
