L’IRD est présent en Asie du sud-est depuis 1976 et y compte aujourd’hui 5 représentant.e.s. Les recherches, menées en partenariat, s’inscrivent dans une vaste gamme de thématiques : agriculture et environnement, biodiversité, aquaculture, santé, géologie etc. Dans le Pacifique, l’IRD déploie deux représentants, en Nouvelle-Calédonie et en Polynésie française.

Highlights

  • Lengguru Expedition

    The 3rd Lengguru exploratory expedition, devoted to the terrestrial and marine biodiversity of the karst areas of West Papua, took place in autumn 2017. The results will help to improve understanding of the living heritage at the heart of the Coral Triangle.

  • IndoPacific Fish Conference

    The 10th IndoPacific Fish Conference organised by the Insular Research Center and Environment Observatory (CRIOBE) was held in Papeete (Tahiti) from 2 to 6 October 2017. This event brought together almost 500 scientists.

  • Expertise on access to vaccination and actions against malaria in the Mekong and Laos

    The World Health Organisation (WHO) requested an assessment from joint research unit 152 Pharma-DEV, to analyse the obstacles and levers that influence access to vaccination and procedures in the fight against malaria for people living in the regions bordering the Mekong River in Laos.

  • Aboard the Tara, scientists get up close with the Caledonian reefs

    In September and October 2017, a team of 7 scientists and students from IRD and the University of New Caledonia (UNC) went to the Entrecasteaux reefs in the far north of Grande Terre.
